Jones Office Supply was founded in 1926 by Amy Jones in McAllen, Texas. Beginning with lending books for a fee, the company grew into a supply and gift business. After World War II, Sam Jones, Amy’s nephew bought into the office supply business and became the manager. Later total ownership of the business was acquired by the Sam Jones’ family. Sam’s son, Foss Jones took over general management in January of 1976. Sam Jones passed in 1992, and Foss Jones is now the president.

Until 1980, Jones Office Supply, had one location and was the largest dealer in McAllen. In that year a new corporation was born, Jones Office Equipment & Stationery and it acquired the assets of Cole’s Office Equipment & Stationery of Weslaco, Texas. In 1993, Jones Office Equipment acquired the assets of McKnight’s Office Supply of Pharr, Texas. McKnight’s had principally engaged in office supplies with some equipment and budget furniture sales. In April of 1995, Jones Office Equipment acquired Cook Office Machine Company. Cook had locations in McAllen, Harlingen and Brownsville.

After the acquisition of Cook Office Machine Company, Jones Office Equipment began to operate under the name “Jones & Cook Stationers.” And in 1996, Jones & Cook Stationers purchased the assets of Hargrove’s Office Supply in Brownsville and consolidated all Brownsville operations into the old Hargrove’s location. J & C is the only independent dealer with a location in Brownsville.

In February, 1998 a new “Jones & Cook Stationers” in North McAllen opened. This is an 18,000 sq. ft. building with a showroom mainly for furniture and a furniture warehouse with dock high loading facilities.

Jones & Cook Stationers opened a contract operation in the former location of Schendel-Raley Office Products in Corpus Christi, and opened a San Antonio Location in October of 2000, and aquired a Houston location in 2005, bringing you a total of nine locations in south Texas.

Jones & Cook Stationers has the most experienced staff in this market. We have a number of career outside sales personnel in supplies and equipment. We are dealers for Allsteel and HON Concensys and handle their inter market programs.

In the products industry, Foss Jones is Chairman of the Trimega Purchasing Association, one of the largest member owned Buying Cooperatives in the United States.
